pianist (part time)
Position Summary:
The church pianist assists in leading the congregation in musical worship by providing accompaniment to hymns and the choir for anthems, and participates in choir rehearsals and special services in the Church calendar.
Qualifications:
Required skills include ability to play wide variety of hymns and choral anthem arrangements.
Availability during Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, as well as Christmas Eve, Easter, Holy Week, and other special services as needed.
Experience playing in Christian worship (traditional) spaces preferred, but not required.

Project an energetic, positive, enthusiastic, and engaging attitude when participating in worship.
Display initiative in role ownership, creativity, planning, leadership, and education to create the best worship service possible that rightly glorifies God in Christ, while empowering the congregation to participate in worship themselves.
Support the church’s worship services through the well-prepared execution and accompaniment of music presented by the choir and/or tracks.
Serve as pianist for the choir in regular rehearsals, special rehearsals, and other rehearsals as assigned.
Plan, select, and prepare preludes, postludes, and offertories according to the needs of the worship service in collaboration with the Music Director.
Maintain and communicate to the Music Director an accurate account of piano needs and maintenance to ensure piano is operational and ready-to-go for each worship service.
Encourage musicians (both vocal and instrumental), and promote Taylorville Methodist’s music program.
Communicate weekly with Music Director.
Assist the Music Director in planning special music for weekly worship services, special occasions, and high holy days within the Church calendar (e.g. Christmas Eve and Holy Week services).
Practice once weekly with choir members no later than 24 hours before Sunday worship services commence.
Conduct Sunday morning rehearsals with sound and instrument check with choir members before service commences.
