Frequently asked questions.
What time(s) does sunday worship start?
We have gone to ONE service as of March 29, 2026!!!
Traditional service in the Sanctuary worships at 11:00 AM.
Worship is currently livestreamed on Facebook, with sermons posted on YouTube, Facebook, and the website. We are working on shifts in our technology in order to get back on YouTube Live soon!
What types of worship services are available? What Can I expect?
TRADITIONAL SERVICE is held in the Sanctuary. Full of energy led by our Sanctuary Choir, this worship service is a reminder that traditional doesn’t mean boring! You’ll participate with the beloved hymns from Our Great Redeemer’s Praise (an ecumenical Wesleyan hymnal used by many GMC churches), creeds, and end with receiving Holy Communion each week.
Service is “come as you are” and lasts approximately 60-80 minutes.
Do you have Sunday School?
Yes! Sunday School hour is at 10:00 AM between services. We currently have three classes: an Adult Sunday School, a Women’s Class, and a Young Adult/Professionals class.
What do you have for my children?
As a church, we believe that children are an important part of the Body of Christ. We do not have a staffed nursery during worship services, but you are free to use it if you need a quiet place to feed, change, or rest. Children of all ages are welcome to participate in all aspects of worship services!
We have CHILDREN’S CHURCH during Sunday School hour (10:00 AM) in the nursery for children 8 and under. Children will receive a Bible lesson and activities.
how can i get connected?
We have different opportunities for you to connect with the worship, mission, and discipleship of TMC! If you don’t see something you’re interested in, or would like more information, please call the office or email us!
WEDNESDAY NIGHTS our Sanctuary Choir rehearses from 7:00-8:00 PM. We have seasonal Bible Studies often led by our pastors.
SUNDAY SCHOOL classes at 10:00 AM - we have three adult classes and a children’s church during this hour.
TAYLORVILLE METHODIST WOMEN is a group of women who lead in many of our missions, including quilting, crocheted octopi for the NICU, potlucks, Freedom Farm, and others. They have guest speakers come in often during their monthly meetings.
WORSHIP TEAMS for Traditional service are always looking for volunteers in: Music (choir, pianist, other); Audio/Visual; Communion Servers; and more!
I’d like to talk with the pastor. How can i get in touch?
Pastor Taylor is always happy and eager to meet with you! You can call our church office directly, and our secretary can let you know the pastor’s office hours. You can also send an email to the church and he would be happy to reach out to you by phone or email. The pastor is often available - just let him know when and where you’d like to talk- whether it’s the church office, over the phone, or at a coffee shop!
How do I become a member of Taylorville Methodist Church?
We’re happy you would like to join us in full membership! As a Global Methodist Church, we accept into membership those who are willing to abide by our Doctrines and Disciplines, a digital copy of which can be found on the GMC website. All professing members promise to live out their faith in Jesus Christ in relationship to the local church through their Presence, Prayers, Gifts, Service, and Witness. Being a member of a local church is more than having your name on a roll - it’s living into committed, covenant community with fellow believers.
We encourage anyone seeking membership to contact Pastor Taylor so you can make sure of what we believe, how membership works, and when to become a member!
You can become a member through: baptism (if you haven’t been baptized already); transfer of membership from another Methodist church; transfer of membership from another church in another denomination; or profession of faith if you don’t hold membership at another church. If you’re unsure, contact Pastor Taylor and he can help you!
If you ever wish to move your membership away from TMC due to moving, finding another church, or other reasons, please contact the pastor and he can assist you in that process.
